Furlough cash 'not enough' for struggling renters

The NRLA has renewed calls for a financial support package for landlords and tenants in the wake of the Chancellor’s announcement on furlough schemes in local lockdown areas. The NRLA said landlords cannot subsidise tenants indefinitely.

Court reform vital before Section 21 axed

Section 21 should not be scrapped until Section 8 rules are reformed and a new specialist housing court is created, a new report by the Lettings Industry Council has warned. It said there could be consequences if change happens too soon.

Bailiffs can't execute warrants due to Tier restrictions

Bailiffs are unable to execute warrants for possession in areas with Tier 2 and Tier 3 restrictions. The news comes as a blow to landlords already granted orders, particularly those with tenants who have built up significant arrears pre-Covid.

Wales: Viewings banned and agents closed

A nationwide lockdown is now in place in Wales, with in-person viewings banned and estate agents closed. The 'circuit breaker' lockdown began on October 23 and will last until November 9. Virtual viewings are still permitted under the new rules.
